Hi, Guys,
I'm running 5.0 RC1 cooking and really enjoying playing with it. It's the fastest install by far of any distro I've ever tried, it boots very quickly once installed to HD. Well done!
I am trying to get Cairo dock to run and just can't get it to launch, either the plain version or the glx version. I try to run it and nothing happens. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Can you launch cairo-dock from the terminal?
If not are there any error messages?Posted 10 years ago # -
Okay, good suggestion. The terminal complains that the windowing system doesn't support OpenGL. This is even trying to run plain cairo-dock, not the fancy glx version. This happens also even if I have he cairo comp manager running.

Works fine for me. Delete glx version before running 'plain cairo-dock'. Install cairo-plugins. Check updates for all of installed packages including base system, there are many bugfixes since 5.0rc1.

Okay, I did get the cairo-dock working. This old Dell Inspiron laptop has an old ATI Radeon gfx card installed. By installing the Mesa drivers for Radeon and a few miscellaneous libraries, I got cairo-dock running. Also, some other apps (like the game Frogatto that complained earlier that they couldn't open a screen) now run, albeit slowly.
