How to start cooking

   Yet again, just for few times in a row, following the http://doc.slitaz.org/en:cookbook:wok to build a wok and trying setup the build environment with _tazdev_ which is obscurely mentioned on non-directly linked page http://hg.slitaz.org/cookutils/raw-file/tip/doc/cookutils.en.html. The only hell-of-thing-i-can-get is "tazdev: not found" and "cook: not found" there's no such separate package to get by tazpkg and cook.

   So after i pass line "#tazpkg get-install mercurial" and before "cook setup --wok". Please with WHAT TOOL i can setup build environment and where is tazdev?

   And just mentioning where does "slitaz-toolchain" script along with other tazpkg scripts resides?

   So how many times i should reinstall from scratch just to start cooking?

   Use SliTaz-4.0.iso , it includes cookutils which owns /usr/bin/cook
   Start by cooking tazpkgs in wok-stable(4.0), wok(cooking) builds are more prone to failure.
   Connect to internet,open terminal,su Password: root
   tazpkg -gi mercurial
   cd /home/slitaz
   hg clone http://hg.slitaz.org/wok-stable wok-stable
   cook --setup
   leafpad /etc/slitaz/cook.conf
   Change
   WOK="$SLITAZ/wok"
   to
   WOK="$SLITAZ/wok-stable"

   Tazdev is not needed,it has to be modified to set-up a 4.0 chroot with tazdev gen-chroot
   Using a chroot to cook is not required unless your submitting new tazpkgs to SliTaz wok.
   Other than the chroot function tazdev is not useful unless you have credentials to mirror.slitaz.org to push source tarballs and tazpkgs.

   Installed tazpkg receipts:
   /var/lib/tazpkg/installed/<tazpkg name>/receipt

   Find tazpkgs and files on repo and running system:
   Applications/System Tools/SliTaz Panel/Packages
   Upper right corner:
   Type name of tazpkg or filename in white box to the left of Search Files buttons
   Search button=> find package with name
   Files button => find package with file name
   Search packages results
   Click on tazpkg name
   Installed files:lists path to all files in package

   First thanks.
   But i quite don't understand releases itself and ofc 4.0 was myfirst choice as fresh newbie ... but that didn't have mouse support in my VBox so i have to downgrade to start play.
   I hope i could start learn with SliTaz as it's simple and still small. I tried Arch several times before and it's quite unfriendly just to install it.

   hg clone http://hg.slitaz.org/wok-stable wok-stable
   yep this line is something i read about "somewhere in the forum" last time it almost work. it should be part of start cooking manual ... but it's not something thats bothers me this time last two three times "cook" worked perfectly. i didnt mess with anything except start clean install and tryto use secondary partition as /home http://forum.slitaz.org/topic/slitaz-30-wont-initialize-for-first-run-when-installed-with-home-on-separate-disk-partition

   /etc/slitaz/cook.conf
   Change
   WOK="$SLITAZ/wok"
   to
   WOK="$SLITAZ/wok-stable"

   Even if this is obvious that it should reside somewhere inside /etc this should also be part of cookbook introduction. even thou i might be familiar with something as nyub guide/manual should point this out and not leave hanging. its nice thatold forum is still working because many things "obvious for native linuxers" are answered there. But h311, even google cannot find all the answers when doesnt know what to seek

   That must be it there's no cook.conf this time only appliactions.conf and tazpkg.conf. And all this just to try to install vtun to bridge and communicate with host. &%%##

   Well seem i had to reinstall Taz3 it once again. (delete, vbox setup, parted, install) ... its easy but when it aint going nowhere ... it aint learning but hitting the wall

   I see everybody uses *tazpkg -gi* now but *tazpkg get-install* only works for me? Is this default alias in Taz4 ... i'm still quite unfamiliar with aliases

   Does the same wok works with Taz3 and Taz4 or there are some separate lists that are different for different TazLive relaeases? I'm hoping not but it would be great to be certain about it.
