Hi All
I managed to install LibreOffice 4.0.1 successfully using get-LibreOffice. It works perfect but looks ugly and strange. However on the contrary LibreOffice 3 Portable looks nece and smooth. Here are the screenshots for both:

I not using office programs under linux for a years ;)
But I can't see any special in your screenshots.
Do you know that linux applications look may be vary depending of icons theme and gtk theme/engine you use?If I recall correctly open/libre office have preferences where you can choose one of three internal icons/look theme.
But I can't tell you if it can use your native linux icon theme and gtk theme? Does office window looks similar to your other windows? I mean PCManFM filemanager, Leafpad text editor, Midori web browser. If yes, you can find a thousand of different gtk themes on sites like http://gnome-look.org and choose one at your taste. If no, so, maybe google helps, why LibreOffice decide not to use native linux theme and re-invent its own wheel.Posted 12 years ago # -
Thanx Aleksej for your response. Here are my observations which you can refer to help me solve this small issue:-
1. Portable-libreoffice3 theme/windows look similar to other application whereas standard libreoffice4 theme/windows look different (gray and dull just like windows 2000/classic) on the same machine.
2. From the official site of libreoffice the system requirements given at http://www.libreoffice.org/download/system-requirements/ indicate these:-
a. Linux kernel version 2.6.18 or higher;
b. glibc2 version 2.5 or higher;
c. gtk version 2.10.4 or higher;
d. Pentium-compatible PC (Pentium III, Athlon or more-recent system recommended);
e. 256Mb RAM (512Mb RAM recommended);
f. Up to 1.55Gb available hard disk space;
g. X Server with 1024x768 resolution (higher resolution recommended), with at least 256 colors;
h. Gnome 2.16 or higher, with the gail 1.8.6 and at-spi 1.7 packages (required for support for assistive technology [AT] tools), or another compatible GUI (such as KDE, among others).
Now i am sure about a,c,d,e,f&g that these have been met but not sure about b&h. Can this be the reason for ugly appearance?

LibreOffice is too huge to my small frugal SliTaz installation, so I'll even not to try installing it, I have only 1GB of RAM and all these get-pack-and-repack just hangs my machine because lack of room in RAM.
Versions of packages used in SliTaz 4.0 (Stable):
linux 2.6.37 glibc 2.13 gtk 2.24.10 xorg 7.4
What about h) Gnome? Gnome is huge too, and SliTaz not based on it, Gnome is several times bigger than SliTaz :) SliTaz not used full Gnome, but SliTaz can use some libraries from it. My answer is: don't know what LibreOffice developers mean when they say Gnome.
Next, SliTaz not used gail as separate library, gail implementation is a part of gtk+. And SliTaz have no package at-spi. Maybe, because of no one package in the SliTaz repository no need it ;)
Thinking of your words about windows theme I asked myself, why windows, not linux? Really, I downloaded latest LibreOffice 4.0.1 from official site, and trying to unpack many rpm files, not all. But I can't find themes folder in that packages. I searched for /opt/libreoffice*/share/themes. I deleted all that crap and fried a lot of HDD space :)
Ok, maybe google helps you, while I can't:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/LibreOffice#Theme
Theme
For Qt integration, install the package libreoffice-kde4.
For GTK integration, install the package libreoffice-gnome.
Even if you are not running one of these desktop environments and thus do not need to "integrate" with them, you may still wish to install these packages so that libreoffice will use non-default gtk or qt themes. For example, libreoffice on e17 uses the default "ugly" (aka "win95") theme; installing libreoffice-gnome will allow you to select a more pleasant gtk theme.
Libreoffice 4.x series is able to use firefox personas. Enter Libreoffice options and choose "Personalization", "Select Personas", then paste the URL of your favourite one.
So, you need to install libreoffice-gnome package.
