Please, can I ask the Slitaz community for a Mendeley slitaz package for Xmas?
I am using Slitaz as my sole OS for the last 3 years. Now I need something like Mendeley for my papers. I wouldn't be able to do it myself. Thanks to all! Slitaz is the best OS ever! Keep up the good work!

Thanks kultex. I tryed that with other stuff and it has never worked before. I will try with Mendeley and then post the result here. Any help you need with the new release please count on me. I can't help with the development but translations or anything else that does not involve any special programming or technical skills, please do. I owe a great deal to Slitaz and you guys.

Nope, it did not work for me.
I tryed with
mendeleydesktop_1.11-stable_i386.deb
and with
mendeleydesktop_1.12.3-stable_i386.deb
Any suggestion?

I do not know Mendeley,
But I used a number of other packages and it worked very often (if you do the necessary work to also convert/install any dependancy, which will not install automatically on a converted package)
Hope this helpsPosted 10 years ago # -
There are a few dependencies that don't get installed automatically when you convert the .deb suggested by kultex (above).
You will need to install these 2 packages:
python
GConfand mendeleydesktop suggests also installing:
libQtSvg
libQtWebkitbut these might be optional.

so install them, they are available in SliTaz
and generally start mendeleydesktop from the terminal and you will get errormessages, where you can look in pkgs.slitaz.org in which package you can find the missing files...

Didn't mean to offend you in any way kultex... I just meant to provide stuvxz with the additional SliTaz package names that are needed for mendeleydesktop following on from the steps they have tried so far (dependent package names were checked like you mentioned).
Maybe my wording was a bit brief.

Thanks to kultex, slapcheek and christophe MendeleyDesktop is working now.
We came to the same conclusions simultaneously and independently so it seems.1. When I tried to run 'mendeleydesktop' from 'sakura' nothing happened at all;
2. Then I installed a number of "heavy" packages like 'jre', 'iron', 'python', etc;
3. Then I tried again 'mendeleydesktop' from 'sakura' and I got some feedback this time;
4. I proceeded then to a proper installation of python, GConf, libQtSvg and libQtWebkit.So, in short --- To have MendeleyDesktop running with Slitaz do the following:
a. download 'www.mendeley.com/repositories/ubuntu/stable/i386/mendeleydesktop-latest';
b. (just like kultex explained above), open 'sakura'; go to the download directory; 'tazpkg convert mendeleydesktopxxxxxx.deb'; and install it with 'tazpkg install mendeleydesktopxxx.tazpkg';
c. install python, GConf, libQtSvg and libQtWebkit with the Package Manager;
d. run 'mendeleydesktop' from the Terminal or from the Menu.Posted 10 years ago #
