   Hi all,

   So here is SliTaz GNU/Linux 4.0-RC2 which is our second release candidate for the upcoming SliTaz 4.0 stable release. Xorg issue should be fixed for most user, TazPanel access is now working after an HD install, LiveUSB creation work like a charm and a bunch of new stuff have been added.

   Ah, awesome. Xorg broke spectacularly while I was trying to set up touchpad synaptics... I made a mistake when editing the config, and suddenly GRUB stopped working completely (?!), hope that whatever caused it is fixed now. Could just be that GRUB is really good at not working right.

   Hi, nv driver not working out of the box, I've got a Quadro NVS 140M
   and the nouveau driver is automatically loaded which results in a
   blank screen. Is it possible to block this on a LiveCD? Thanks.

   This works for nvidia 8400gs.
   Hit tab after you select the version (core,gtkonly) from the boot menu.
   Add nomodeset to the end of the kernel line.
   Hit enter to boot.
   This disable's the nouveau frame buffer's acceleration when it is modprobed by tazx/tazhw detect-pci
   which prevents the blank screen issue.

   I did a clean install of RC2 and it seemed to be working ok for a bit.
   The Network Manager indicator in the upper right corner was defaulting to wlan and I
   wanted it to display etho, so I found a place to change the setting.

   I also attempted to install get-google-chrome, but I couldn't tell if it completed properly. If I try to click on All in the TazPanel - Packages, it closes down.

   Now the application menu in the lower left corner is missing. A restart did not make it reappear.

   My install is running in VirtualBox 4.1.18 if that matters.

   I reinstalled to try and determine what was causing the problem. Everything looked ok until I ran a Logout - Close X Session: exit. The bottom panel with the application menu on the left side is now missing.

   The problem appears when I logon and exit with the user tux. If I do the same sequence as the root user, the application menu still shows. Hopefully this will help isolate the problem.

   I am new to SliTaz and it looks great.

   Sounds like this bug: http://bugs.slitaz.org/issue63

   The workaround I use is to modify both top and bottom panel. A small change to the other panel like adding an invisible separator is all that's required.

    de_DE
    de_CH-latin1
    sg-latin1
    do not work; I can't type anything in the terminal

    using language fr_Fr and fr_CH-latin1 it's ok

    En Francais:
    je ne peux pas taper aucun lettre dans terminal avec de_DE et sg-latin1 ou de_CH-latin1

    edit
    wlan0 is not recognized (works fine with tiny core)

    0,5 mb useless

    /usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/gnome/background-default.jpg

    it should be good to track and delete all these icons and themes which are not used

    maybe comes from an installed package.. i don't know which one
    (firefox,xine,mlayer,gnome-mplayer,parole,xfmedia..)

    by the way, tazwok is operational ? Because it's easy ?

    tazwok is still fully operational and I use it to compile SliTaz Libre variant. More about it may comes later. Anyway, about tazwok, I enhanced it a lot the last year. It has been decided by the team that it was somewhat bloated and too complex; then pankso wrote cookutils as a replacement. cookutils is now shipped as default cook tool for SliTaz, and is the tool that compile the whole distro. Still, I fixed few bugs and maintained tazwok able to compile a complete SliTaz. There are enough difference between cookutils & tazwok so that both may seems appeling; depending on what you want to do. I claim that tazwok can rebuild a full SliTaz in few commands, but it might not always be so simple :). Anyway, if one's need some support with it, (s)he can catch me on irc, mail or mailing list. I even might hack something up if needed.
