Hi
I'm new to Slitaz, I have used Ubuntu quite a lot
I am not able to see the Chrome browser or Libreoffice
both appear to have installed correctly but there are no signs of any icons
if I use the run command eg "get-Libreoffice" nothing happens
Am I being thick or is this something that needs working on

@Essex Lad
Some software on slitaz is downloaded/packaged/installed with a get-*.tazpkg script.
Google chrome only runs on cooking.Google Chrome:
Install the get script:
#tazpkg -gi get-google-chrome
Enter
Execute the get script:
#get-google-chrome
Enter
Start google-chrome from menu:
Applications/Internet/Google Chrome
Start google-chrome from xterm as regular user:
tux@slitaz:~$ cd /opt/google/chrome/
tux@slitaz:/opt/google/chrome$ google-chromeLibreoffice:
Install the get script:
#tazpkg -gi get-LibreOffice
Enter
Execute the get script:
#get-LibreOffice
EnterPosted 13 years ago # -
Thanks Mojo
I was being thick!
I have got Dropbox, Libreoffice & Chrome all installed and working
I must say I like Slitaz even though it's another learning curve
Will Chrome be installed in the final version of Slitaz4?
Thanks again

Probably not Essex Lad - we need to keep the size of the iso down and including Chrome will add like 14MB to the ISO size :/

googel chrome should be banned for ever from slitaz packages .. it has nothing to do with the
values of linuxThere is iron-linux which seems a good alternaltive.
I wait for Ice-cat, the alternaltive of FirefoxPosted 13 years ago # -
Have tried RC2, I can make liveUSB & liveCD but it fails when I try to recreate an ISO on a CD...somehow I have lost my wireless which worked on RC1
The ISO downloaded from Slitaz burnt efficiently to a CD which worked on 3 different PCs

@mojo
Thank you for your reply. I took a look at the bug: http://bugs.slitaz.org/issue63
as you suggested. My Linux skills aren't very good as this point in time, so it took a little reading for me to understand how to use the info in msg206. I used the following command to copy the default LXDE config file to my user version.cp -i -v /etc/lxpanel/slitaz/panels/bottom /home/$USER/.config/lxpanel/slitaz/panels
Once that ran, I performed a SliTaz Logout - Close X session : exit
It came up with the bottom panel showing again.
If the top panel is missing the command changes to:
cp -i -v /etc/lxpanel/slitaz/panels/panel /home/$USER/.config/lxpanel/slitaz/panels
The commands were executed while logged in as my normal user, not root.
Thank you for your help.

Booting v4rc2 my screen blanks just as I expect a desktop; v3 & v4rc1 displayed ok, v3-vesa looks okay too. Same thing happens with several distros using new kernels; maybe it's a newer-kernel open-source-driver cheatcode boot-parameter thing. But not just nomodeset.
My pc has an old ATI on-board Radeon Xpress 200 gpu driving a 17" 4x3 LCD vga monitor.

Posted in previous post (2 back) that I lost wireless in RC2 but what happened was that it became less automatic.....entered details manually and it worked!

How can I make PPPoE connection on Slitaz 4.0 RC2 ?

midori + youtube = flash crash
is there any battery module for my eee ?
Posted 13 years ago # -
Hi I have a nvidia gf8200 and had some problems with video in RC2 (all previous stable, cooking and rolling versions worked great).
Without parameters i can't get a graphical login, it gives me the right resolution but stays in command line. If i enter startx it gives me an error and remains in console.
If i pass it 'nomodeset' i get a graphical login prompt with the right resolution but the screen appears missplaced in respect to the monitor to the upper right, with black margins in the left and bottom. Thanks in advance.
PD: other distros with the nouveau driver worked well for me.

We have an issue with nouveau, we have the kernel module but not the Xorg driver. We will remove Kernel module and nv driver should work nicely.
@moulefritte C'an reproduce, I'm on youtube and midori listing to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENBX_v1Po1Y
battery support is build in the kernel not as module
