What is the origin of the slitaz light web browser? Is it available outside of slitaz? Using the latest cooking version of slitaz, I recently installed a bunch of browsers for comparison. The additional browsers installed include tazweb, netsurfer, surf, arora, and the iron web browser. I also then upgraded all installed packages. This morning I noticed that the menu no longer has an entry for the slitaz light web browser. I suspect it may have been replaced by one of the additional browsers I installed. If so, which one? Also, what is the relationship between the slitaz light web browser and gtklauncher? In the past, I thought that I could run the light web browser by issuing the command gtklauncher. But now that seems absent also. Any information about the slitaz light web browser is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,
gtklauncher is part of libwebkit and was installed with this package, now that we have TazWeb I removed gtklauncher from libwebkit. If you realy need gtklauncher I can do a separated package, but I dont see the point actually, we have many browser in SliTaz and the prefered light one is Tazweb.
That said if something is missing in TazWeb, please tell me and I will try to add the feature.

Aah, so I gather it was the upgrading my slitaz cooking live session that resulted in the removal of gtklauncher? I like tazweb, but I like the other slitaz light web browser with gtklauncher too. As far as I can tell there is nowhere in tazweb to input a new url, or can you put a url in the google seach field as you can with chrome to go to a new otherwise unlinked web site? Well, I just tried that with tazweb, and, no, you cannot enter a url in the google search field in tazweb to have it go to that web site, it is treated like any other search term. I think it would be a significant enhancement to tazweb to have a field to enter a new url. Or am I missing something?

If an input field for a new url does not exist in tazweb, and If one is not deemed desirable, I, for one, would like to have gtklauncher and the old slitaz light web browser still be part of slitaz or, at least, be made available as an optional package.

Why not include both GtkLauncher and TazWeb?

Because I just published TazWeb 1.2 with new URL entry in toolbar, new reload button and it also handle a personnal page.html in user configuration directory witch can have bookmarks, Javascripts widgests or whatever you want to put in it!

Okay, great, I will try tazweb 1.2 as soon as I get back to my main computers.

Okay, I updated my package list in package manager and upgraded all four packages including tazweb 1.1 to 1.2. Thanks very much for the new enhancements, especially the navigation field on the toolbar for entering new urls. Not sure what the personal page is yet or how to use it, but it looks interesting. Thanks again for making a terrific slitaz light web browser. Everyone should be very grateful. Oh, I did notice that as of a very short time ago the web packages repository contains only tazweb 1.1 not tazweb 1.2 for download, but I'm sure that will be updated soon.
