I have had the same issue (start menu task bar and tray gone) in slitaz 4.0
it occured after adding a tool in a panel.
probably, lxpanel use default config when config is missing, but no longer use default when you create something
you can fix this by erasing your lxpanel config
rm -rf ~/.config/lxpanel/$(id -un)/*
or if you have one of your two panel avaible, reconstruct it using right click and add a new panelhope this helps

Guys,
I'm new with Slatiz and have many years that I don't work with Linux. Now I need a very tiny distro to build some thin clients for my wife's school. All that she needs is a FIrefox Browser and a Citrix Receiver (they use XenApp and XenDesktop).
I installed Slatz 4 and it's working great! But Now I'm having the same issue about the Start Menu. If I costumize anything, like adding or remove a application button, it works. But when I do logoff and log again the Start Menu Task gone!
When I installed I created a "thinclient" user, and is the user that I'm making the costumization. When I access the ~/.config/lxpanel I have a "slitaz" folder. I tried to mv to "thinclient", copy to "default", and also deleted all content in ~/.config/lxpanel but isn't working.
Any type will be very helpful!

It is a known issue in 4.0 at least. When you edit one panel, the other one dispears upon the next login unless you edit it as well. To bring back both panels for user thinclient:
rm /home/thinclient/.config/lxpanel/slitaz/panels/*
Logout/in X sessionWhen changing something in the top panel, you can for example change the height (in pixels) for the bottom one. When you make a change to both panels before logoff/logon you will not have the issue.

emgi,
Thank you for reply me, my friend! I will be waiting the fix for the issue, and use the workaround that you told me.
It's my first time using Slatiz, but I have to say that I LOVED this little guy!
