surprising flash comportment

   Hi

   I did install flash as needed in divers situations:

   - to look youtube (it works well)
   - to look my national tv news for ex. at http://france2.fr/jt/20h (it works well in midori, I am really surprised!)
   - to work in http://openstreetmap.com with the OLD integrated editor Potlatch2 (accessible hitting on the arrow next to the word «edit», second selection, on top left of the map)

   and in this constellation it doesn't want to start Potlatch2!

   what can be the matter?

   PS: as midori recognize my site, to see the name of the commands on English, I did also start midori private browsing. it did not recognize my site and did appear on English. But as I did try to start Potlatch2, it answer with an error message in my local tongue and not on English at all:

   «Du benötigst den Flash Player um Potlatch, den OpenStreetMap-Flash-Editor zu benutzen. Lade den Flash Player von Adobe.com herunter. Einige andere Möglichkeiten, um OpenStreetMap zu editieren, sind hier beschrieben.»

   Hm!!! Not so private as hoppened that "private browsing"! Ridiculous... although Midori did anounce: «The language and timezone are not revealed to websites.» Ok, it did not reveale my time zone but my site in Germany :-( . And I did retry the same operation in "private browsing" with in London. The error message continue to be in German and says that I to install the Flash Player! But it is installed else I would not receive the, concerning exigences to flash player, terrible finicky News retransmission from france2!

   Private Browsing just means it doesn't save the cookies and cache while in this mode. It also doesn't forward your user data as requested by sites. This however doesn't include IP or host addresses, which a site can use to figure out where you are in the world.

   As for the Flash, I'm guessing you're using the latest one in the repository which could mean your flash version is either too new or too old for the site. I know some sites have weird detection code written into it.

   also try next trick with Flash Player. As far as you know, Flash uses cross-browser local storage, where Flash stores all the data. Flash uses this storage across all your browsers. And, maybe, Flash continues to use this storage even in Private mode.

   Close all your browsers. Open PCManFM, press Ctrl+H to see hidden files. You are in your home folder. Browse to folder .macromedia (yes, begins with a dot) and rename it (not delete, so you can back to it via renaming it back), let's say, to no-macromedia.

   Open browser, navigate to web site you mentioned above. If anything has changed?
   Note, when you use Flash, it re-created brand new .macromedia folder in your home folder. You can remove it later, after browser close.

   Thank you Trixar_za and Aleksej for your answers!

   I will experimente more in the next days from a frugal install as I don't want to have to repair my actual relatively good actual big hard disk installation.

   I suppose that the problem is deeper!

   I did compare with the actual new Puppy Precise from Barry Kauler: It uses Seamonkey 2.17.1 but a probably very old small version of flash preinstalled and working well in all prenamed cases (youtube, france2 and openstreet). This flash version is probably very old as it is only 12 MB in size (actual versions are 17,4 MB in size!). But not as old, that it would be save the video in /tmp any more (that is what Adobe and his customers doesn't want!).
   And it works without limit...

   In Slitaz I have not only that flash problem in openstreetmap: I have also a localhost problem.

   After repairing like explained on the site of SliTaz in the script /etc/rcS.conf, Cups starts now, the printer is installed, the settings are ok...
   ...but it doesn't print or transmit print jobs to Cups (no problem in Puppy precise! So I can print the stuff out but have to reboot with Puppy... It is not really ideal!)

   I suppose that their is a deeper problem with the communication between browser front end and internal functions having to be done by the system and not by the browser alone!

   It is possible that it is a problem of rights or a filtering problem of chars:

   I am using the keyboard variante US INTL. I did install SliTaz with the new method in Slitazweb browser. I did enter a password for root, a password for tux. In x the commando line recognize root + his password. But I can't enter commando lines with

   # su -c "tazpkg -gi pipapo"

   because the char "

   doesn't appear (the comportment of keyboard differ in commando line from the main option "us" under x.org stuff)!

   I have to login in console as "su", enter in su mode with password and write after that

   # tazpkg -gi pipapo

   (Example only! I didn't yet install sudo as I usually am using above way).

   And I did see after a writing error making that I did be in the box after reboot and not in Slim, that in the box user root and correct password are not accepted any more (I can enter as user tux).

   somewhat seems not to be completely clean in that installation...
