I have tried to compile the new version of some packages in slitaz 4.0 stable, like vlc. I know the slitaz cooking has the new version of vlc but i cant make it work and firefox 22.
Are there anyone updating slitaz packages for 4.0?

Hi lucasnsf
I just stumbled upon your post and your Question:
"Are there anyone updating slitaz packages for 4.0?"
4 Months...no answer, not even a yes or no...wow.
I had the same question for years-old, broken packages which are still broken.
no response..........
I'm getting the Impression that most of the dev's went away from Slitaz
and we are pretty much alone here.
If you like slitaz like i do, than grab all the packages you can get and store them at home, before the last one will switch off the Light.Posted 11 years ago # -
Hi sixofeight,
I do not think the developers are far from SliTaz, they just try to stable version 5 so she could get out.
For my part, it is true that I put a little aside SliTaz, although I help from time to time on the forum.
Between my exams in June, and my business research, I have not really taken the time to get involved again in development.
Today I'm fixed term contract until January with possibility of permanent employment in January, which gives me pleasure to be able to resume development for SliTaz.
If I understand your request you would like to backport some applications within the stable version, such as VLC, Firefox, ...
Can tell me the ones you would like, so I try to do what is necessary for porting to take place.
cordially

Hi shann
glad to see you here.
my old box and me; we are pretty satisfied with Slitaz-software.
(using m-player and Midori)...except one thing:
The nvidia-96xx-96.43.20_.tazpkg"-package from the repo (undigest) is broken.
I'm able to install the package "NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.23-pkg1.run" from the nvidia-website, but I had to install a lot of packages in my system to get it done.(toolchain etc.).
Well I'm a so called "minimalist",and I was proud of my slimmed down, well configured, flawlessly working Slitaz 4, so it made me really unhappy to install all this stuff just to get the driver.OK,maybe I was a little rude as i mentioned that we should have a working package
I apologizeUpdating some popular software would surely be appreciated.(how about a poll?)
till then
I wish you all the best and hopefully more people like you
will step in to get things done.Posted 11 years ago # -

Hi..
that's very good news @erjo, please share it and wonder how advanced the development of version 5?
We can help, even on basic issues?Posted 11 years ago # -
With reference to having packages available, you might like to investigate 'cooking' - there is a bootable DVD version with the package repository included within it.
Glad to hear there is progress with version 5, my thanks to everyone involved.

@erjo
Nice to hear that the work on SliTaz 5 goes on.
The "feeling lost" arised, because for a long Time there wasn't any Information
whether progress is made.
Good or bad news doesn't matter, just keep the community a little more informed.
It's a benefit doing so, because someone could provide help, or has good ideas
to give a new point of view.
All in all, thank you for being here, and working on Slitaz.

Saludos.Posted 11 years ago #
