I'm using slitaz on a dedicated computer and not get updates of new versions of programs.
Because SliTaz not have updates of new versions of programs?

You should see the packages icon with a flash sign if there are any new updates to the programs you have installed. If you click on this icon it will start Tazpanel and do a recharge of the list (if your packages list has not been updated for 10 days) and then you should do a check for upgrades which will fetch any new upgrades.
And I realized that for this version come out only critical updates. A software update will only be in the next version.
I also almost never updated. :)
As such I have installed Firefox 10, when right now I have 19 Firefox, but Opera Browser if you have the current version 12.14...
There are very outdated software, to my I'd like that in the repositories section Non Free were the Softmaker Office 2008 software, I installed it from another source.
Or anyone knows of other unofficial repositories for SliTaz?
Hi guys... Updates of new versions do not exist in Slitaz. This is an error, Mozilla Firefox has had many security updates. Slitaz is too lost in time. Lengthy version releases.
Use my SliTaz 4 package and update it to the latest version with Help---> About---> Check for Update. Your argument is irrelevant now.
Some software is intentionally left out-of-date to protect YOU from new system breaking bugs - midori being the best example of where the newest version is worse than the older one. Would you rather have a broken, but up to date system rather than one that works? No? Then there you have it.
I update the system manually building packages and applying security fixes, I see the list of Debian updates on http://lists.debian.org/debian-security-announce/2013/threads.html.
I don't want a broken system, but we need to look at the important security updates, nss, apache, rails, lighttpd, samba and other.
A packaging team would be a great idea for the slitaz project.
I like Slitaz :)
Slitaz is fun ;)
As much as I like Slitaz, it is a tiny team.
I certainly wished (and would hope) more efforts would be invested in the update arena, specially for security fixes - but I don't believe this is shared within the Slitaz team, they decided to invest their time differently.
Maybe someone with more insight in the project will tell you differently.
