Clearer HD-installability yet, or W.I.P. ?

From 23 Feb 2012 newspage http://www.slitaz.org/en/#news

The SliTaz contributor team is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the first release candidate for SliTaz 4.0. SliTaz can boot in 10-12 seconds on fairly new hardware and with the new 4in1 ISO you can install a full SliTaz desktop with only 48MB of RAM. The 4in1 ISO is able to auto detect the memory and can boot SliTaz in text mode, a minimal X environment or a full graphical desktop.

Still unclear where to find clearest up-to-date Hard Drive installation docs for 4.0-RC1

Also, still bit of confusion on minimum system HW reqs for full graphical desktop installation.

Re: Clearer HD-installability yet, or W.I.P. ?

The docs for new slitaz full installer tazinst :  file:///usr/share/doc/slitaz-tools/tazinst.en.html

Note: a tazinst.desk file is needed to access from Applications/Documentation and modification to tiny man fake

script so tazinst and burnbox are viewable in terminal and tazpanel/help/ Manual search

The cgi frontend for tazinst:

Application/Sysytem Tools/Slitaz Panel/Install

core-4in1 flavor :  http://hg.slitaz.org/flavors/file/c3fb6c3824ab/core-4in1/receipt

ROOTFS_SELECTION="191M core 159M gtkonly 99M justx 47M base"

The minimum amount of detected hard ram on the system required for the flavor to the right to be auto booted.

These are good guidelines for minimum ram requirements on a live/frugal install where entire filesystem is loaded in ram. Full install with filesystem on hard drive are less.

Full featured core requires 191M + of ram , gtk-only 159+, justx 99+,base 47+

I am not sure about the meaning of doing a full install of core with frugal ram= 48 M

Perhaps on a 48M ram computer you can boot into base, and install core.

Core would only run on the 48M computer in console mode (screen=text) without X

Your post raises some good questions related to a full hard drive install of a 4-1 live cd.

How is a full install of core done from the 4in1?

Since core includes rootfs.gz 4,3,2,1 can rootfs.gz extraction be done by tazinst?
